Fucked Up: Trauma and Kink Discussion Series

with Mistress Ophira

The goal of Fucked Up is to provide an open platform where trauma survivors can share thoughts, feelings, and experiences relating to BDSM: how it has affected our healing and coping processes, things we may struggle with in negotiating our relationships, what we need from our partners and fellow community members, and what sort of spaces we might like to build. Sharing is not required for participation, but we aim to offer an open and anti-oppressive space in which people can feel comfortable doing so if they wish. We are all experts when it comes to our own lived experiences, and each of us has something to contribute regardless of our level of familiarity with kink and BDSM.

This discussion series will be held on the first Monday of each month.

Topic for Feb. 4, 2018: Join us as we discuss the complicated terrain of assault, coercion, and consent violations in BDSM communities, the response or lack of response to stories of abuse surfacing in kink circles and communities, and strategies for keeping ourselves and each other safe. How do our marginalized identities make us more vulnerable to attack or boundary encroachment? How can kink environments be made safer for already at risk folx and less welcome to those who abuse their power and privilege or even circumstances ripe for exploitation?"

Time: 7-9:30pm

Location: Disclosed upon registration. Unfortunately, The Ritual Chamber is not wheelchair accessible at this time. Please include other access needs in your RSVP message.

Fee: $40 (Sliding scale available if necessary. Email headmistress@theritualchamber.ca for code.)
